The Beginning of CAUSA
In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, more than 40 advocates and leaders from San Antonio’s arts and culture organizations have joined forces to create Culture and Arts United for San Antonio (CAUSA), a collective designed to raise public awareness of the value of arts and culture to San Antonio’s economic and cultural vibrancy. Celebrated for its rich traditions, the Alamo City’s culture is rooted in the arts. Embodied with the themes Creativity Counts and Better Together, CAUSA’s mission is to inspire new and ongoing support of the arts in San Antonio.
Arts and culture are an integral part of San Antonio’s DNA, and while the city continues to fight the ongoing battle with COVID-19, its artists, local organizations and institutions are struggling to keep the arts alive in the face of the harsh economic impact of a global pandemic. As San Antonio continues to re-open and re-build, it is inherently important that the city’s beloved artists and organizations receive renewed and continued support from their community. CAUSA’s goal is to provide the community with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain the culture and arts communities of San Antonio by highlighting their widespread value and economic impact. From virtual or in-person visits to local museums and our performing arts venues, to the financial support they provide to hundreds of employees as well as their overall local and statewide advocacy efforts, CAUSA demonstrates the power of collective action and the might of arts and culture in our communities today.
